About William Talham

2023 Bill Head Shot

Hello. Thank you for visiting my website. I started my law practice after graduating from the New England School of Law in Boston in 1998. I commuted 3-4 nights per week during the school year from my home on Cape Cod up to “Beantown” for four years. When I started this endeavor I was only 38 years old… When I graduated, I was still just 42…

Luckily for me, it was only 82 miles each way….

From my background as a life-long working Carpenter and former Realtor from upstate New York, I knew upon graduation that my practice would be directed towards helping people with their Real Estate needs. My dad always said, “you do what you know”. I knew about housing. I also knew that if people were going to trust me with handling their largest asset, chances were, they would also have confidence in allowing me to help  them plan the distribution of their estate for the benefit of their heirs at law. These two legal disciplines, Transactional Real Estate and Estate Planning, grew to become the foundation of my practice, for the initial ten years.

My law business was originally based in the Town of Dennis on beautiful Cape Cod, Massachusetts. And it evolved to include the servicing of clients in both Florida and Massachusetts. In the fall of 2003, my family and I moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida while still maintaining our home in Cape Cod. Upon arrival in Florida, I took a job with one of the largest title insurance underwriters in the country. This position provided me with an opportunity to expand my knowledge about the Real Estate industry on a national scale. I traveled extensively. However, in January of 2007, I left the corporate world, and went back into private practice, based in Palm Beach Gardens,Florida. Shortly thereafter, I also resumed swinging my hammer, because frankly, I enjoyed that as well…

Going back into my own law practice was an exciting, challenging, and rewarding experience, to say the least. I have helped people realize their dream of home ownership, and I have helped them “plan for the day when they will run out of days…”

In 2016, my wife and I divorced. A few years later, in 2020, I sold my Cape Cod, Massachusetts home. I purchased a piece of property in Saratoga Springs, New York, where I have built a new home between April of 2021 and February of 2022.

These days, my practice has evolved to something much different than what it used to be. Because of the technology I employ, it is also much different than the typical law office operation. I have changed my focus and have limited my practice to just serving Estate Planning clients. I have found that I can provide a much more personalized service and satisfying service within this discipline. Let me explain. When I am contacted by a prospective client, we will set an appointment to meet in one of two places; either on a Zoom call, or at their home, at their kitchen or dining room table. Not in some cold, uncomfortable lawyer’s conference room somewhere. Yes, that’s right, I either make house calls, or we meet using the benefits of today’s technology via Zoom! When discussing the distribution of one’s assets from the fruits of their life’s bounty, I have found it to be a much more relaxed, comfortable, and productive meeting when the client is sitting within the comfortable confines of their own home. And actually, the only time that we really need to be together, in person, is when we have the final signing ceremony to execute all the documents that have been created for their specific Estate Plan.

Lastly, because of how I now operate my practice, today’s technology allows me to be a true working “snow-bird” attorney. I am able to service my Florida clients, regardless of where I happen to be sitting. In the fall and winter months, there is no better place to be than in the Sunshine state of Florida. And because I enjoy the splendor of the Adirondack mountains of upstate New York in the summer time, don’t be surprised if I am at my desk in Saratoga Springs, when you need to create your Florida estate plan, even if you are in Cleveland. As they say down under, “No Worries, Mate”. I’ve got youcovered!

With all this said, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or special requests you may have. I’ll be glad to help.

Sincerely;

William F. Talham Jr., Esq.
